Fathom Tanks was born out of the necessity to prepare first responders for flood and swiftwater incidents. Of all flood-related deaths, one third are the first responders. Changing rain patterns and widespread flooding means more deaths will occur unless emergency personnel get better training.

Fathom Tank inventor Barton Bollfrass is a former Navy EOD Diver who worked in the entertainment industry for more than a decade after military service. He saw a unique opportunity to change water training practices by combining realistic movie set design with military-style training. The result was a safer, repeatable, more realistic training environment.
