LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Street flooding and a power outage were reported at LAX Tuesday, but airport operations continued smoothly despite the hiccups caused by a storm.
At least one lane of the Sepulveda tunnel to LAX is flooded Tuesday after heavy rain fell overnight. According to LAX officials one lane within the southbound Sepulveda tunnel had to be shut down after at 9 a.m. due to standing water. Crews were on the scene and had the lane reopened soon.
With the potential for high winds and heavy rain during this latest winter storm, passengers are encouraged to check their flight status and allow plenty of time to get to the airport.

A little further out, flooding was also reported on the northbound 110 transition road to the 105 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a caller reported 18 inches of water stretching at least 20 yards on the freeway.
The power outage was reported just before 2 p.m., but didn’t appear to be widespread.

The heavy rain and high winds have not impacted airport operations, but LAX officials say passengers should still check their flight status and allow plenty of time to get to the airport – particularly with wet roads snarling traffic across the region.
