Heavy storms and severe weather can flood parts of Duffyfield.

For instance, there is Jacki London, who had 3-plus-feet of Florence flood water ravage her Main Street home, near the curve into Garden Street.

In addition to the area of Main and Garden streets, where Jacki London's home is, here are five other areas that residents point to as typical flooding spots, even with normal rainfall.
There is the congregation at the United Worship Center, further East on Main Street. Florence left a skeleton of a church and it required a nearly-total rebuild after the September 2018 storm.
And, of course, the loss of the beloved Stanley White Recreation Center remains a somber and controversial gash in the predominately African American community's spirit.

But, if not this time, there will be future flooding in Duffyfield until permanent solutions are found. Flooding continues near or at the top of overall citizen concerns in Duffyfield.
